Passive House buildings use balanced ventilation systems with energy recovery to provide a constant flow of fresh, filtered air while continuously exhausting stale air. These systems are ultra-efficient and can recover up to 90% of the heat energy lost in typical buildings. Just as important, these constant fresh air systems ensure that occupants stay comfortable and enjoy excellent indoor air quality, keeping spaces free from odors, pollution, allergens, and other contaminants.

This 45-minute module is intended for audiences of all backgrounds and is a great introduction to the basics of energy recovery ventilation.

It is recommended, but not required, that students take the one-hour, foundational Passive House Primer before completing this module.
